Now in its third year, this initiative, led by the Institut Français in India, aims to promote intercultural dialogue and artistic collaboration between French and South Asian creators. The selected residents will spend between one and three months in partner residency spaces in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and France. The next residency cycle will run from August 2025 to August 2026.
‘Translation is a form of transformation, and I want to discover what my poetry becomes when it breathes in French. I also hope to take advantage of this residency to create new works, letting the landscape and its spirit of resistance inspire a renewed poetic voice,’ said Kandasamy, who will visit the Maison de la Poésie literary centre in Nantes, France, in a statement. Similarly, Johanna de Clisson, a French ceramicist, designer and artistic director known for exploring the relationship between minimalism, architecture and tactile materials, is eager to discover how earth meets textiles, as ceramics and weaving become one, during her stay at Nila House in Jaipur. ‘Trained in a European context where minimalism, clean lines and the predominance of white occupy a central place in my work, I want to initiate a dialogue between these two aesthetic worlds. My project at Nila House will focus on the blending of cultures and skills,’ she added.
Other selected residents include writer Ruchir Joshi, art critic Sukanya Deb, visual artist Sajid Wajid Shaikh, poet Selim-a Atallah Chettaoui, illustrator Daniele Pasin and poet Monia Ben Romdan._The New Indian Express
